Before you bring that Beagle home
I wanted to share a few tips to ready proof your home/apartment for your new Beagle puppy. This list of items are just a mere outline of what’s needed based off your particular home layout. You will find as you go along with Beagle proofing your home the adding things you might need.
1. it is almost a given that your new Beagle friend will cry during the first few days in your home. Puppies in general do this to signal to their owners or mothers where they are in case they are lost. The crying is two part. First being they are in a new environment and are reaching out to be found. Two, because they miss the people they were once close to in the previous environment.
I would suggest sleeping close to the crate the first few night and really begin to bond with your Beagle puppy.
2. I would suggest getting a crate. It my experience that if you’re going to crate train your Beagle puppy, you will need to buy two crates during the course of a year. You don’t want to buy an oversized crate for your puppy because it will defeat the potty training purpose for having a crate. Puppies hate to soil where they sleep, so if you’re on your job then the Beagle will be on theirs.
3. You might want to invest in two bowls “one for water the other for food”, however remember you will be buying two more later on when your puppy because a full grown Beagle adult.
4. You will need pads “pee pads” to train your Beagle puppy on where to go in the particular section you carved off for them in the house. Ex. I usually start off with the kitchen and keep it fenced in while training my Beagle puppy.
5. You should wait to find out what diet the breeders has your puppy on before going out to get food before hand. It will make your puppy feel a little at home to eat the same foods they were eating with the breeder. Plus, you could make your puppy stomach upset with introducing it to new foods. Things like collards & leashing can wait until your puppy was given their third round of shots and begin going outside.
